RIBA Stirling Prize
by Tomdubbs
Each year, the UK’s best architects vie for the Stirling Prize, one of the most prestigious awards in British architecture. The prize itself is named after Sir James Stirling, one of the most influential and important architects of the latter half of the 20th century. The winning decision always generates controversy as opinions are naturally divided on architecture. The short list consists of six buildings chosen from the winners of the RIBA Award. These buildings must demonstrate “high architectural standards and substantial contribution to the local environment.”
