Real rocks digitised. The natural look of each rock is maintained even when scaled to various sizes. The original rocks are small (50mm to 200mm) and mostly basalt from the Bombo quarry on the coast south of Sydney and some light-coloured granite from the hills near Canberra. Most rocks were scanned by Metronom in Melbourne using a REVscan. Models were created by reducing the 10,000 triangular face mesh to just 500 faces using MeshLab. Some rocks were digitised using a digital camera and Microsoft's Photosynth photogrammetry software. These virtual rocks are being used by Intresto to test our Rocksolver optimisation software. Models created by Malcolm Lambert. I hope they enhance your landscapes.
