Leominster, Herefordshire, UK 작성자: Tom

| In medieval times Leominster, pronounced “Lemster”, was a town whose business was based on the woollen industry, today it is a haven for shoppers and a large variety of eateries. The town has a number of old black and white, timber framed buildings interspersed with many newer periods up to the modern. So it is no surprise that it attracts such large numbers of visitors every year.
Locally know as “The Town in the Marches” it is steeped in history including some land called Broadfield that is mentioned in the Doomesday book. Located in the county of Herefordshire, this fascinating town has a population of over eleven thousand people.
Architecturally Leominster has many interesting timber framed buildings, in black and white, amongst its narrow streets. Its Priory is one of the oldest in the whole of the UK and features a ducking stool, used for the final time in 1809 on a poor woman named Jenny Pipes. The Earl of Mercia, Leofric, husband of Lady Godiva, renowned for riding on a horse naked across the city of Coventry, was responsible for the name.
Leominster is very close to the border between England and Wales and is on the banks of the River Kenwater which is a tributary of the larger River Lugg. Surrounded by stunning scenery, there is much to see and many places to visit.
