McLaren Automotive (previously McLaren Cars) is an automaker established in 1989 with the object of producing road cars based on Formula One technology. It works closely with the Team McLaren Formula One constructor and is part of the McLaren Group. Through General Motors in 1985 McLaren Engines in Livonia, Michigan helped create the GNX, based on the General Motors G Body. In addition, McLaren was sourced to provide a special package to the 1989 Pontiac Grand Prix including a turbo kit and body kit.
