Small town in eastern Washington state (near Spokane) that is the home of Eastern Washington University. It is located on the boundary of the famous Palouse grasslands and the Missoula Flood "Scablands" (basalt outcropings amid pine forests and lakes). The Turnbull Wildlife Refuge is (located on the se edge of the city) is a major stop on the migaratory bird flyway. Built on the Burlington Northern RR line, the city has several buildings on the National Historic register.
