Spisska Nova Ves is the center of Spis region and also a gateway to the National Park Slovak Paradise. In addition to the charming nature in and around the city many historical and cultural monuments. Except charming nature in and around the city is there many historical and cultural monuments. SNV is largest city of Spis, the third largest city of Košice (Kosice and Michalovce after) and the sixteenth largest city in Slovakia. The first written mention of the town is from 1268 (Villa Nova). Mining of iron, silver and copper began here in the 18th and 19 century.
