Located along the banks of two great rivers, the Concord and the Merrimack. Early industrialist built huge Textile Mills powered by the canals that were dug by Irish and Canadian immigrants in the early 19th century. Lowell is home to a very diverse population and the University of Lowell. The city is the birthplace of Jack Kerouac, Betty Davis and Ed McMahon. The movie "The Fighter" was filmed in Lowell. Located north of "Bawsten" and my hometown for thirty+ years.
