Blaavand is a small resort area located on the Danish North Sea Coast. The town includes a large area with vacation homes or summer houses. Most houses are constructed in adherence with a strict set of rules defining the architectural features considered typical for the area. Red bricks or wood make up building materials and most houses are with either grass turf of thatched roofs. Houses are typically rented to vacationers - mainly from Germany - and are used year-round.
