|A collection of buildings within the City of Utica, New York. With a population of 62,000, Utica is in and the county seat of Oneida County. Incorporated in 1789, Utica grew into a bustling textile mill town in the 1800s with the rise of transportation along the Erie Canal; reaching its population apex of 116,000 people in the 1960s with the development of the many machine and tool companies. Today, Utica is a typical post-industrial "Rust Belt" city and still clings to much of its historic architecture and remaining businesses.
This collection contains sections of Downtown Utica, Bagg Square and the Brewery District.
