Historic Pullman District, Chicago, IL by J. Wallace
|
| The buildings of the Pullman District of Chicago. Designed by Solon Spencer Beman, the town of Pullman was the locus of the Pullman Palace Car Works. Built in the 1880s from local brick and stone, the town gained notoriety with the Pullman Strike, and fell into disrepair after Pullman-Standard vacated in the mid 20th century. Now a new wave of gentrification promises a wave of reconstruction in Historic Pullman.
