The Waterfront and City Commons is a brand new development area at the mouth of Clematis Street next to Flagler Drive and the Intra Coastal waterway of Palm Beach. The old public library was torn down in 2009 to make way for a grand yard, glass pavilion, gardens, walkways and fountains. At night, the park lights up with a free light show with popular music from a great variety. This gives residents and visitors alike a chance to cool down and relax after a long day. Flagler Drive was relocated, as well as the tip of Clematis Street, to make way for the new glass pavilion and the lawn. The jewel of the park is the glass pavilion which serves as a multipurpose center for any occasion.
