Tehuamixtle, Mexico. Oriented to take advantage of ocean and bay views, we used passive solar construction, regional materials, slate walls, and a xeri-scaped green roof. Shade is created through amatl (pre-Hispanic paper) panels impregnated with resin for walls and roof. Slate walls and resin panels can completely enclose the space providing protection from the elements. Panels open to take advantage of the semi-arid micro-climate and also create soothing dappled light.
