The Manufacturer's Hanover Trust Company was a bank formed by a 1961 merger. The Rockefeller Group purchased the 28-story Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company Building in 1963 ten years after the building's completion. In 1969 it became a subsidiary of Manufacturers Hanover Corporation and in 1993 it merged with Chemical Banking Corporation. The chief architect of the massive 19 building project, including the Simon and Schuster Building, was Raymond Hood.
