As the sixth capitol building utilized since the states 1818 inception, the Illinois Sate Capitol Building stands the tallest classically styled state capitol in the united states. The zinc plated dome spans over 90 feet and rests in the center of the building's Latin cross layout. Located in Springfield, Il the 361 foot tall building towers above much of the city and is a large tourist draw for the city as is the Old State Capitol known as Lincoln's Capitol which is located a gew blocks away.
