The Titanic was built with the intention of being the largest, most luxurious ship ever built. It was constructed in Belfast, Ireland. It's maden voyage took it from Southampton, England to a never-reached New York. 4 days after departure, on April 14 1912 the Titanic struck an iceberg south of the Newfoundland. The Titanic was 882 feet long and 92 feet wide. It broke into two parts while sinking the 2 1/2 miles to the ocean floor, and the pieces rest about 2000 feet from each other.
