(Project) Sea.Sun House
(Architect) Antonio Vecchini AIT
(Location) Crissy Field, San Francisco
The Sea.Sun House as a design unit is a two-way hub that connects the modern world of globalization and the more rustic life stile of living with and of the earth. The “feel at home” sense created in the Sea.Sun House comes through the simbiotical relationships in its design strategies. The modern lines, volumes and structural technologies control the landscape even reshape it, but only to maximize the views, the sunlight exposure and winds. Also the material selected like: steel, wood, stone, aluminum, concrete serve as an ode to the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and the once existing airfield, but also are material that will age with the house telling its story along the way. The use of sustainable architecture (ecological terraces, reusable rain water, the orchard and the solar panels) is the key ingredients to the “feel at home sense” because in their implementation exist the true marriage between the global lifestyle and the natural life.
