Richard and Valerie Beaubien describe this structure, originally designed as a cafeteria, as "the bow of a tugboat cutting through the waves. The nautical imagery continues with a central 'smokestack,' flagpoles and terrific cutout portholes on the parapet" (97). I failed to take a look at the interior but the former authors praise it extravagantly. Moreover, they also have great brownies!
designed by Henry Hohauser (1939) -- began life as the Hohauser Building, opened as Hoffman's Cafeteria in 1940, still known to many locals as the Warsaw Ballroom
