The Perth Town Hall Stages 2, 3 & 4 Refurbishment project represents the completion of a long and comprehensive revitalisation of the building itself for the community of Perth. Having completed a Feasibility Study in 1996, which identified opportunities for usage and recommendations for appropriate works, the City of Perth embarked on a strategy to reinstate the Perth Town Hall as a major icon. The City of Perth is sincerely committed to preserving the Town Hall and significantly increasing its patronage, thereby contributing to a more meaningful historic built fabric for Perth. Together the three Stages form a holistic refurbishment package for the building which clearly addresses the key issues of conservation and usage. The key spaces of the Hall and Supper Room have been carefully restored, incorporating new lighting and air-conditioning.The Stage at the western end of the Hall has been re-worked to provide a flexible and functional facility. Ancillary areas that have been substantially upgraded include Tea Preparation and Back-of-Stage. Considerable restoration works have been carried out on the north and western facades, including windows and brickwork. As completed, it can now play a crucial role in providing the Perth community with a historic civic space, one which is authentic. It can once again provide the ‘civic heart’ of the City, forging a sense of community pride.
