The lift bridge of the Triborough Bridge complex spans over Harlem River and connects Randall's Island to the Manhattan Island. The bridge is designed by master bridge builder Othmar Ammann and it was constructed in 1936. The bridge's 64 meter tall towers borrow their design from the George Washington Bridge. The six road-lane-bridge deck consists of three truss spans. The center span is 95 meters long and has a clearance of 17 meters over river surface. The center span can be lifted up with 96 wire ropes, increasing it's clearance to 41 meters.
