A structure built from 14 irregular shaped rocks according to a plan devised by our Rocksolver software application. Note about the 3D view in Google 3dwarehouse - the 2d image looks fine but the 3d view has a few rocks out of place for some reason. The model is OK when downloaded though. I think it's the first stable structure ever built from irregular blocks using software to automatically determine the position and orientation of each block. Each rock was scanned and then textured to look like the original. Because the rocks were selected for their prism shapes a 2D packing algorithm was used. Built by Rocksolver and Malcolm Lambert at Intresto in Australia. Click on the YouTube link below to view a short video of the structure being tested to destruction using Sketchyphysics. For more information about Rocksolver visit my blog: malbertsinvention.wordpress.com. To find other models of groups of rocks search for "RocGrp" or to find other structures designed by Rocksolver search for "RocSol".
