The Latah Creek Bridge was built in 1963 by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and carries 6 lanes of Interstate 90 in and out of Spokane. The 1,200-foot long concrete box bridge soars over 150 above Latah Creek above High Bridge Park. It was a major component in the construction of I-90 through Spokane and is essentially the city's western gateway. As drivers decend eastbound down Sunset Hill, they are treated to scenic views of Downtown Spokane, and as the roadway levels off, drivers cross the I-90 Latah Creek Bridge (where they are unable to see Downtown), and after the crossing the compressed view explodes into a panoramic view of Downtown and the City of Spokane.
