Completed in 1892, and straddling the state lines of Arkansas and Texas, this was the first building to occupy the space where the current post office and courthouse now sit. Featuring Romanesque Revival architecture, it is still considered by most to have been the more attractive of the two buildings. It was razed in 1930 to make room for a larger faciltiy and current Federal Post office and Courthouse. I wanted to make a model that unfortunately is not around anymore. It has been fun searching online to find old photos and postcards of this building. I did strive to be accurate, but as I only had front and side veiws of the building it may not be 100 percent. The window and door placement came from the old 1888 artistic rendering from the architect. So I did have the basic layout and placement of walls and windows from (at least) 1888. I hope you enjoy the model as much as I did creating it!
