Una vez un poblado localizado al sur de Lima y accesado por tren o tranvía, actualmente es un distrito bohemio de viejas casonas donde se encuentran restaurantes, pubs y galerías de arte. Entre sus construcciones encontramos el Parque Municipal construido en 1898, la Biblioteca Municipal (1922) y la Iglesia Santísima Cruz (construida por el arquitecto Humberto Guerra entre los años 1944 y 1963). Este es un proyecto independiente. Ninguna persona u organización ha apoyado o auspiciado su creación, y su intención es llamar la atención de instituciones y autoridades para que preserven la arquitectura monumental del distrito y que se encuentra en algunos casos muy descuidada y dañada. ***** Once a town located south of Lima and accessed by train or tram, is now its bohemian district, full of old houses where there are restaurants, pubs and art galleries. Among its most prominent buildings, we find the City Park (built in 1898), The Municipal Library (built in 1922) and the Holy Cross Church (built by architect Humberto Guerra between 1944 and 1963). This is an independent project. No person or organization has supported or sponsored its creation, and is intended to call attention of institutions and authorities to preserve the monumental architecture of the district and that is in some cases very neglected and damaged.
