The new synagogue of Speyer was inaugurated on 9th of November 2011. The "House of Peace", designed by architect Alfred Jacoby, includes an elliptical prayer room and a community center in parts of the former collegiate church of St. Guido. 70 years after the destruction of the former synagogue in the Kristallnacht, the oldest Jewish community in Germany is back visible again in the city's life.
