The Palais des Ducs et des États de Bourgogne in Dijon was the seat of the rulers of the duchy of Burgundy. It now houses the Town Hall and the Museum of Fine Arts. The architectural complex is in a remarkable state of conservation and shows almost a millennium of political life in Dijon. Most of the buildings were built in the seventeenth century by Jules Hardouin-Mansart in classic style. There are still some remnants of the former palace of the fourteenth century, including the gothic Logis, the ducal kitchen and the two towers. With a height of 52m, the tower Philippe le Bon dominates the entire city.
