235 Van Buren is a 150 meter high residential tower in Chicago, IL. It is an exercise in true urbanism – eminent, contextual and identifiably modern. Standing like a vanguard at the threshold of the city, 235 Van Buren enlivens the Chicago Loop skyline. The design is an articulation of two masses, one providing a professional presence at street level, while the other pronounces entrance to the residences. Each mass is different; an all-glass façade to the south assimilates into the office towers behind it, while the cantilevered balconies framed in a concrete ribbon on the north identify it as a place of residence. Inside, lobby ceilings reach 25 feet, with an equally high glass wall providing awe-inspiring views of Willis Tower and the surrounding skyline. Its 714 condominium homes contain floor-to-ceiling, tinted windows presenting dramatic views and optimum natural light.
