Cosi si presentava ( E DOPO BEN 4 ANNI, ANCORA SI PRESENTA . . . ) la chiesa capoquarto di s. Pietro di Coppito, all'alba del 6 aprile 2009 . . . Risulta essere una delle chiese più antiche della città. Come tutte le altre, ha subito in maniera devastante anche il terremoto del 1703, essendo stata quasi completamente distrutta. Venne restaurata nel 1862, con dubbio gusto di innovazioni architettoniche di quel periodo. E' stata riportata all'antico, solo agli inizi degli anni '70, dal solerte architetto Mario Moretti che, dopo attenti studi, ne recuperò abbondante materiale (inglobato nelle strutture stesse della chiesa) e la riportò all'antico splendore. Come le altre chiese, gli altri bellissimi palazzi, le altre importanti strutture del tessuto urbano, come tutto il centro storico. . . dovrà essere (prima possibile) sottoposta ai necessari lavori di ristrutturazione . . .
