This is a simplified massing model of the NEST. The NEST is a deconstructible, relocatable, reconfigurable, and sustainable shelter. It looks like a simple shed or little garden cottage, but is designed to be very strong and completely self-sustaining -- a sanctuary. Five fully insulated prefabricated SIP panels hang from a steel moment frame. The frame is engineered to use the same moment connections found in commercial steel hi-rise construction. The 75sf house packs easily into a shipping container and can be erected in 10 hours by two unskilled workers.
