The Temple Of Karnak, Ipet Sut (the most hallowed of places) designates the center of the world where Amun, the creater of the universe, first created himself and then all living beings. His kingdom on earth was ruled by his beloved son, Pharaoh. Amun resided in his temple at Karnak and mankind could maintain cosmic harmony by worshiping Amun in the temple. Eighty thousand people served in the temple during the reign of Ramesses III. For over two thousand years Amun-Re was worshiped at Karnak. The Temple is entered along the access road that is built on the original site of the canal that linked the Temple Of Amun with the Nile River. In ancient times the sacred barque of Amun would sail from the Nile through the canal to the Chapel Of Achoris at the Temple Of Amun-Re on ceremonial voyages.
The model is a reconstruction of the temple as in the time of Pharaoh Necatembo 1st. Many thanks to Gerard Homann for the Karnak information and plans that I found on his website - http://gerard.homann.free.fr/WEB_EGYPTE/egypte.html
