Costruito dai monaci dell’abbazia di S. Maurizio di Agauno probabilmente nell’ XI secolo e passato agli Challand che lo abbandonarono a metà del XVIII secolo, il fortilizio fu eretto in un luogo fortemente strategico: lo svettante sperone di roccia sul quale sorge consentiva infatti un’ottima panoramica, indispensabile per prepararsi e gestire meglio una difesa da eventuali attacchi nemici.-------------- Built by the monks of St. Maurice of Agauno probably in XI century and passed to Challand who abandoned it in the middle of the XVIII century, the fortress was erected in a highly strategic: the towering outcrop of rock on which stands an excellent overview in fact allowed, necessary to prepare and better manage a defense against possible enemy attacks.
