Reminiscent of Stickley furniture (Arts and Crafts Style 1930’s), this desk is in the style of earlier writing desks that had a door that dropped down to become the desktop. Those were narrower and less deep, this one is made to handle a conventional PC computer (with tower). It is 2 inches taller at the desk top level (being 30 inches) than what was used in the 1930’s. This one is 50 inches (4’2”) side to side, 2’3” deep (at the feet, 1’ 11” deep at the top) and 53 inches (4’ 5”) tall. The work surface folds out to be 46 inches (3’ 10”) side-to-side and 42 inches (3’ 6”) deep. The monitor sits on a low shelf; the keyboard (and mouse) can fit underneath for ease of storage. This desk is designed to be built out of 1x and 2x by materials without too many fancy joinery cuts. Alternately, one could use hardwood plywood with solid wood trim. This is a DYI woodworking project; as such I designed each piece of wood in the model as its own component so you can disassemble the model piece by piece. At the hinge point of the front door on the left hand side I have left a ‘knob’ for you to use the rotate tool to open and close the front part. To fully close or open either of the desks here, use the rotate tool and rotate 95.5 degrees. In this model there is the complete component version (the one that is opened) and one for you to move about the different parts to see how it goes together (the one with the closed door).
