Dymaxion Map • Global projection method, patented in 1946, as originally proposed by Richard Buckminster Fuller • World map projected onto an icosahedron • When unfolded into a flat map, the Dymaxion Map does not seriously distort continent proportions, nor relative sizes, as do other map projections • Secondly, the icosahedron can be 'cut' and unfolded along edge lines in such a manner that the continents are maintained whole (i.e.; no cuts cross a continent) • I modified the texture map showing Antartica being cut down the center • This was simply to make texturing the model easier • The original map shows Antartica as whole
