Midwest Earth Builders (MEB) produces a natural masonry block called a Compressed Earth Block (CEB) using a hydraulic press. A wide range of soils is used for the production of these blocks with key ingredients being clay and sand. Soils are typically used from on-site or the local area with stabilizers, such as lime, added to increase compressive strength and water resistance of the finished block. CEB's are laid in standard masonry fashion and typically require only a thin bed of mortar or clay slurry. CEBs can be used as the whole wall system or as the interior finish veneer in place of drywall.
