The Kollhoff Tower is a high rise building (103 m, 23 floors) at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, Germany. It is named after its architect, Prof. Hans Kollhoff, and is designed in a style of high rise buildings dating back to the early 20th century, the so-called Chicago Style. The facade is made of clinker, grey-green granite was used for the plinth. Inside the building, Europe`s fastest elevator has been installed. On top of the building is a panorama viewing platform. The Kollhoff Tower is the tallest building in the DaimlerChrysler district, a completely new city district with nineteen buildings, ten streets and two plazas constructed in a period lasting from 1994 to 1998. Together with the neighboring tower blocks by Helmut Jahn (BahnTower) and Renzo Piano (office tower), the three buildings make a striking architectural statement at Potsdamer Platz.
