The 100,160 square foot elliptically shaped Group Health Exhibit Hall was completed in June 2006 on budget ($75M) and ahead of schedule. The facility was constructed to expand and replace older exhibit spaces at the Spokane Convention Center (the old space in the original building was renovated into ballrooms and meeting rooms). The facility gained LEED Silver Certification shortly after its opening, making it one of the first buildings in the Spokane area and only the third convention center in the United States to achieve the award. The Hall offers a scenic view of the Spokane River through floor-to-ceiling windows and can accommodate thousands of people for trade shows, community events, sporting events (including the 2007 State Farm US Figure Skating Championships), meetings and banquets. The Group Health Exhibit Hall is connected to the adjacent Doubletree Hotel and the old convention center through a promenade skybridge that runs along the Spokane River.
