A Deep throat Taper jig for Table Saw using an articulating Shop Vacuum powered suction clamping sled that rides along the table saw fence, allowing unlimited positioning. Multiple holes in the holding face allow this vacuum clamping jig to apply tremendous force holding the workpiece against the fence while ripping tapered legs as long as 38". A safer and far less scary method than unclamped metal wedge jigs. Unlike taper sleds, which are admittedly simpler to construct, this jig does not subtract from the depth of cut and is not limited to positioning in the miter track. In addition this sliding fence can be set parallel (zero taper) to easily rip and hold strips as thin as 1/32" (and less with a zero throat clearance plate) on the fence side. The Vacuum flattens any thinly cut piece to the fence and keeps it there until the saw is safely stopped. With the addition of a blast gate the piece can be released after completion of the cut without turning the Vacuum on and off. Using 1/2 & 3/4 MDF with 1/4 tempered hardboard this jig is easily assembled with common glue & hardware to a high degree of accuracy. The heavy jig is stable smooth and durable, and a pleasure to use while keeping the manicure safely out of harms way. The Shop Vac is positioned on the out-feed side of the saw to allow the hose to feed with the work.
