The Residence Jan Palfijn is a large tower with 15 storeys on the corner Krommewal of the Leye. The neat finish of the cantilevered balconies
and the drawing of the siding to counter somewhat the heavy tower.
A sturdy double cornice gives the tower its own identity. A modest low-rise building with garage along the Krommewal looking to join the
other buildings along this street. Each floor contains 6 flats. The tower was in 1966-1967 by Amelinckx building erected.
Reportedly it was even intended that some towers along the Leye came more to the Minnemeers Bridge.
In terms of location of the tower shows striking similarities with other 2 'Amelinckxen'
in Ghent from the 60s. Both Henley (Henleykaai) and Cromwell (French canal, Ledeberg) watching from high above their surroundings, lie along the water and through a
lower attachment with the other houses in the street connected. Both towers ment, however, had a brick facings.
