because of the demolition of the surrounding office buildings, the chapel is clearly visible again. Around the chapel is the cultural quarter of the Nijmegen city located in the former police station. The facades of the building make the function visible: in the "dresser" are the municipal archives, in the 'bookcloset' is the library and in the open building is the Center for Work and Income. In the Gatehouse is LUX cultural complex located, with seven theaters for film (a fusion of Cinemariënburg and O'42), music, theater and debate. The monumental Mariënburg Chapel in the center of Nijmegen, will serve for the next 2 years as the House of Nijmegen history. The chapel is a public center where the Nijmegen history comes to life. Mayor and Aldermen have decided to use the chapel to promote Nijmegen, the historic city. There are exhibitions, lectures and educational projects. The center opens in October.
