The U-Bahn station Nollendorfplatz was originally built in the early 20th century as part of the Stammstrecke, the first Berlin U-Bahn line. The 1902 elevated station was heavily damaged in WW2 by Allied bombing, and rebuilt in the 1950s in a totally different style. In 1999 the station received a new dome, slighty similar to the one from the original building. The only remaining part of the old station is the eastern hall, dating from 1926. - (c) Generalfeldmarschall.
