Hose Company No. 1 is a Late Victorian Italianate building originally built to house the Fire King Engine 2nd Company which was a volunteer crew. When the company became a paid crew in 1878 they became known as Hose Company Number 1. The building was built in 1877 and designed by local architect John Ross.
