From 1910 until 1964, the temple to transportation, New York's Penn Station, was a Beaux Arts masterpiece welcoming train passengers to Manhattan. Designed by McKim, Mead and White, an elite architecture firm, it was the fourth largest interior space in the world at the time. In the 60s it was demolished way before its time and unceremoniously replaced by today's Madison Square Garden.
