Designed by Ralph Modjeski and completed in 1929, The Tacony Palmyra Bridge spans over Delaware river between Palmyra NJ and Tacony PN. The bridge has a total length of 1153 meters. The longest span of 159 meters, is held up by a big steel arch with a clearance of 19,5 meters between the deck and waterline. To let taller ships pass, the bridge also has a bascule section with double leaves and an infinite clearance when opened. The deck has three road lanes and two pedestrian ones. Approximately 70,000 vehicles cross the bridge every day.
