From its completion in 1924 until 1963, Eno hall was the home of the psychology department at Princeton University. Eno Hall was named for Henry Lane Eno, who donated money for its construction, and it was the first university building in the United States dedicated exclusively to the study of psychology. The psychology department has moved to larger quarters, and Eno Hall currently houses offices affiliated with the department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Over the south door is inscribed in greek the delphic motto, "Gnothi Sauton," or "Know Thyself."
