Randy's Donuts, with a giant donut on the roof, was built in 1952 as part of the Big Donut Drive-In Chain. Near the LA International Airport, it has appeared in such films as Earth Girls Are Easy, Mars Attacks!, Golden Child, Into the Night, Coming to America and most recently Iron Man. The donut was textured by taking a medium-colored sample of the donut texture; stretching it to the size of the donut (which on the aerial photos is nearly 8 meters in diameter, rather than the 20 ft number found online); pasting the lettering only from the photo, onto the homogenized texture; projecting onto the leftmost three slices of the torus stood in its final position; texture reversed project rightmost three segments; two slices of segments at rim/hole equator; mapped directly rather than projected to avoid stretching out texture.
