Built in 1874, designed by Edward Tuckerman Potter, the house that Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) built for his family in Hartford Connecticutt. The home is now a museum honoring the life and work of this great American writer. Mark Twain and his family enjoyed what the author would later call the happiest and most productive years of his life in their Hartford home. Twain wrote: "To us, our house . . . had a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals and solicitudes and deep sympathies; it was of us, and we were in its confidence and lived in its grace and in the peace of its benediction.
"This model is my second model of the Mark Twain house. The model here is matched to blueprints on file with the Natural Register of Historic Places. The house sits in an area that was known as Nook Farm, the Harriet Beecher Stowe house sits nearby. I took down the first model because this one better represents the beautiful Mark Twain house.
