Hodson Hall opened in the fall of 2002. The Hodson Trust, which provided leadership support to construction of the building, was created in 1920 by the family of Beneficial Corp.'s founder, Colonel Clarence Hodson. The Trust supports excellence in higher education by providing grants for scholarships, capital improvements, research and other purposes to four Maryland schools, including Johns Hopkins. Hodson Hall contains high-tech, “smart,” classrooms, a 500-seat auditorium in which every seat is wired to the Internet, the trustee boardroom, and the Hodson Trust Archives.
