Sheffield Cathedral is the oldest surviving building in Sheffield, dating back to from about 1430. Unlike many cathedrals it has never been officially 'finished' and has seen additions constantly from the establishment of the existing church on the site leading to its unusual shape. It is is the shortest spired cathedral in the country. The Cathedral became a cathedral in 1911, it still remains a parish church too.
