In der Deutschen Forschungsanstalt für Segelflug Darmstadt wurde 1936 von Herrn Dipl. Ing. Hans Jacobs das Leistungs- und Kunstflugsegelflugzeug Habicht konstruiert. Es war das erste speziell für den Kunstflug gebaute Segelflugzeug. Mit einer Gleitzahl von 21 reichte der Habicht an den Rhönbussard heran.
