The Way of Human Rights in Nuremberg was established in 1993 to a design by Dani Karavan. The street consists of 27 columns, two base plates and an oak tree, which each carry one of the articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in various languages. It is both an indictment of the crimes of the Nazis and a reminder to people that human rights are still massively violated in many countries around the world. The former city of the Nazi racial laws and party rallies, but also of the first International Military Tribunal, wants to make an active contribution to the global enforcement of human rights and annually awards the Nuremberg Human Rights Price.
