The communications tower designed by Santiago Calatrava was one of the landmarks of Barcelona in 1992. The extensive silhouette of the Montjuic mountain was changed forever in that instance, re-urbanised for the celebration of the Olympic Games and the city in general. Its spectacular design has turned it, much like the Palau Sant Jordi, into one of the constructions that anticipates the city's future in the present day. Calatrava has also left his mark in other corners of the capital, such as on the original bridge that crosses the street Bac de Roda (in the Sant Martí district). Its unique shape, in keeping with the Valencian architect's style, became one of the symbols for the 1992 Barcelona. The tower hasn't lost any of its validity over the years, thus proving its lasting commitment to a new trend in urban architecture.
